Steering not centered?

Just had my steering wheel replaced with a nappa leather one form the 2012 ab and have notice it goes up and down about 1cm for steering too to bottom like it’s off Center - is this normal didn’t notice before but wasn’t looking for it? Current stable:

When you replaced the steering wheel did you ensure that the front wheels were lined up straight ahead? Also that the old steering wheel was centred?

When changing the steering wheel it is a good idea to mark the fore and aft position.

I had the wheel off on mine and it is back lined up with the binnacle. You may (probably) have to reposition your new one on the splines to line it up. John

sounds like it is 1 spline off, taking it off is pretty easy and if it has been off already then it should come off the spigot no problem.

Im sure there is a powerful vid of how to take it off on yootoob. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

No think you don’t get what I mean wheels are bang on centered when the is centered happy here and marked the spline,

I mean the actual wheel moves up and down when you turn it so if you have it straight then turn it half a turn looking at the dash behind it it goes up and down about 1cm Current stable:

Odd, but are you side it didn’t do that before. The only way that would happen is if the fixing hole in the wheel wasn’t in the centre.

It could be that that’s how the wheels are made, can’t say I ever noticed in my 322, measure the diameter of the wheel, is it round ie same dim top to bottom as it is side to side?

If they are the same then the centre of the wheel is not in the centre! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Right...

You will wish you could unread this now - annoyed I got the old wheel and measure from the bottom to the Center and from the top to Center.

To the top it is exactly 1cm more.... so this I imagine is the same for all l322s! Why wouldn’t you put the hole in the middle I can’t unsee it now Current stable:

[quote="Danwilderspin"]Right...

'You will wish you could unread this now' -

Read this as I was supping a beer, now cleaning up kitchen surfaces and laptop, of said beer. I had been reading this thread, and pondered the subject and thought that the wheel cannot be perfectly circular. It stands to reason and logic. So I thought.

Then thought NO Censored way, if I post that, everyone on here will think that I am an absolute twonk.

Danwilderspin, at least you now know that you were not imagining things, and that your sanity is retained.

I will refrain from making any comments as to your remaining dignity. Whistle
