L405 Upper wishbone bushes

I have been experiencing clunking from the front end of my SDV8 for some time. The front ARB bushes have been replaced but the noise persists. I jacked the front wheels up today; when I rock the front wheel the upper wishbone bushes, where it affixes to the body/ chassis, appear to flex back and forwards by around 10-15mm. Is this normal or are they worn? in my experience the upper bushes should be pretty solid for lateral movement.

There should be no movement in the wishbone bushes, you need to replace them by the sound of it.

10-15mm is one hell of a lot of play. That definitely sounds like the source of your problem. Kev

Re: L405 Upper wishbone bushes

cupples did you do the swaybar bushings yourself or have them done? I have a clunk as well and have a pair of new bushings to put on and am curious how the install went/difficulty.

On another note I havn't checked wishbone/bushings for movement but when the front is jacked up if I grab the lower control arm and and push/pull on it is has very slight movement.....is this normal or should I not be able to budge them? 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC

The swaybar bushes were done by the dealer under warranty. I have it booked back in to investigate the remainder of the noises. I'm pretty fed up; surely a basic check at the dealer of the main bushes, wishbones etc should have been conducted at the time.

I agree that the dealerships should be spotting these worn parts more regularly.
Some of us haven't got the ability or knowledge to check these things ourselves.
My own, admittedly second hand, L405 was checked at service by an Indie who spotted worn lower bushes and joints . These were replaced under the extended warranty scheme that I have.
