United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue Supercharged Zambezi Silver
service rip off

my daily is a 2006 ford focus cvt and I've had it serviced twice in the past 18 months.
firstly by a high end performance specialist that did some work on my fatty well so I entrusted my daily.
second in Dec 20 by a mobile spanners as I wanted an mot and didn’t have time to do that myself

a few weeks ago the cvt was playing up so when I footed the throttle there was little acceleration.
brief research suggested this was common and I needed a gearbox fluid and filter service.
I called Ford to book it in and they did not offer the service. they did not have it on the system as a job.
I then used an internet car service site (I've forgotten who) and found a local place at a great price.
the guy did the work sending video of the job as he was doing it.
on collection it was chalk and cheese so I booked the car in for a full service.
as he went round the car again he sent videos demonstrating that the oil was black sludge, the oil filter was clogged and the air filter black with dirt. he suggested that the car hadn't actually been serviced for some time.

this suggests that the last two services, possibly more, have not been performed.

a positive is that I have found a reliable service mechanic for the daily

Why would he have had the engine oil filter out if he was doing a gearbox service Confused

A good advert for doing your own work, IF POSSIBLE, I realise some people have no experience, and or little time for this, before I am shouted at, but you can learn to do this. Start small and work up, lots of info and videos around to show how to carry out jobs. Especially on this site.

Bonuses - Peace of mind, you know it is all done correctly and a fatter wallet afterwards. Thumbs Up

Mind you, factoring in the cost of all my tools does make the financial calculations go a bit wonky, for instance, having 7 axle stands, 3 trolley jacks, don't even ask me how that happened, and as for spanners and sockets, metric, A/F, Whitworth.....maybe having OCD helps Whistle Rolling with laughter

A Trap

What were the previous services... full or oil and check overs?

How do you know the oil filter was clogged?

Is it a petrol or diesel?
