Radiator to thermostat hose o ring td6

Hi all

Changed the thermostat on the Range Rover and there’s a solid plastic type seal and an o ring that came off on the old thermostat. My issue is the o ring seems too large and I can’t get it sit in any of the grooves.

So out of interest is it possible for a o ring to expand to this extent?
Does anyone know where I can get one?
Has anyone got an image of how it should fit?

Cheers

Check with someone like Duckworths, or another site sponsor, the seals and 'O' rings are not expensive.

Personally I would NEVER re-fit old seals or 'O' rings, it's asking for trouble, and yes, depending on the type of material, some seals 'O' rings can expand with age, they also lose their elasticity, some become hard / brittle with age. The old plastic seal you are referring to could be the below item

Thermostat Seal - LR004613 - Genuine

Strange! as I would also expect that a thermostat or assembly should include any new seals required for fitting.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply

I think the issue with this seal is one end of the thermostat housing has the seal fitted into it and this part is new. The other end(which is where the issue is) has the o ring sat in the radiator hose and so doesn’t come with the thermostat.
