Do your fatty a favour...

The expression "use it or lose it" is very true when you own a fatty...

There are various features that you rarely use but you will want them to work when you need them..

So do your fatty a favour and use them next time you get in it...

Suspension....

Cycle it from standard height to off road, down to access, back to off road and then back to normal...

Gearbox...

Put it into low ratio on a straight bit of road, then, without turning, drive forward 20yds then return to high box, do it a couple of times...

Handbrake

Let the fatty roll forward at tickover and use the handbrake to stop it, do this several times, if you have the later type, just lift the switch and hold it until you stop...

Seats

Move all the seats to their maximum settings both ways.

Windows & Sunroof

If, like me, you never use the sunroof, just try it out a few times, also the rear windows and passenger one if not used much...

This is not a definitive list, just think about the things you rarely use and give them a work out, especially as they have been sat not moving much during lockdown.. And when you can, take it for a good run, and use the upper ends of the rev range to give the engine a good workout...

If anything fails, don't blame me...!!

Thumbs Up Pete

Rear screen washer and wiper as well... It never fails to amaze me the number I see on the road where the back screen is caked in gunge . Do they ever use the mirror ??

It’s because “they all” fail and then squirt the inside of the car Wink

I am also guilty of not using the hand brake to stop the car,
Perhaps the name is wrong ?... EPB. Electronic Park Brake, suggests its to hold it , not stop it.

Rosco, and me... I have read the workshop manual and getting access to the module is a nightmare, so Pete is right to “work” it.

Ermm the manual says its an Electric Parking Brake

ie no electronics in the parking brake just in the parking brake control module!

Semantics maybe

I just prefer a manual parking brake much more control, more reliable and simpler to maintain.

Oh and easier to do a handbrake turn when you need to impress the girls! Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006

Bow down I bow to your professional opinion Craig, but anything that uses printed circuit boards and integrated circuits to make it work sounds a bit “electronic “ to me. Rolling with laughter

Good post as always Haylands Thumbs Up

I'd add powerfold mirror for early L322s too and rear seat heaters just in case - they hardly ever get used indeed.

Check your spare wheel air pressure too while you do the other 4 and that there is indeed a jack and kit in the boot. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l
