Removable tow hitch square bung cover.....

I have a factory fit removable tow bar and am intending to spray the receiver so it looks a bit tidier....

Then I remembered/saw that you can remove the receiver, which might be a better option or just an option to paint it easier....

To have the option to leave it off, I need a bung thing to put in the square hole. A quick Google search came up with KYB000011, but it seems it’s obsolete...

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks
Mark

Any US 2" receiver cover should do the trick.

Maybe something like this one ?

Cool, thanks. I wasn’t sure if it was a universal thing or not. That’s not a pic of my actual one, if it was that clean, I’d be leaving it 🤣

I never really 'got' that 2 part unit - it seemed to leave so much in place, you might as well leave the whole lot. The only real advantage is that it would store in the boot.

I went from one of those on one car to a farmers hitch on the next - much neater when removed, just a pain to store.

L405 deployable now - the perfect solution Cool

I’ve never towed anything, it’s just looking more brown now. Just been and had a look, and I can see nut is 24mm and the whole lot is spinning round. Might cause more trouble than it’s worth......

Will have a better look and perhaps best to tape stuff off and spray in situ.

The big advantage of the receiver hitch, along with it heing more robust than the deployable towbar, is the number of different accessories that can be fitted to it Thumbs Up

Google “receiver hitch accessories”.

You will need a spanner on the other side as it is a removable bolt.

Now have a deployable on my Sport so £10 + postage and it’s yours.

You can find various rubber plugs for the receiver part on-line - often very cheap.

The one I bought off ebay turned out to be for a metric 50mm square receiver, not the US style 2 inch / 52mm that we mostly seem get in the UK.
At 50mm it was loose in the metalwork, so no use.
I discovered it was quite easy to create some extra raised "ribs" using a hot soldering iron. It now fits fine & definitely won't get easily dislodged (my first plug disappeared while driving !) Paul,

"if you can find a clear lens it could be an extra reverse light?"

It would have to be better than the ones fitted to the L322! Ron B. VK2OTC

That’s what I was thinking.... flood light for the rear....

Thanks for your replies. I’ve painted it all now, so I shall leave the receiver connected and see how long my painting lasts.

If it goes scabby again, I will probably remove it.
