The 4.4 always has the DPF in the UK. It’s a legal requirement.

4.4 TDV8 is fine for most normal driving. During Lockdown I did 5 miles 4 times / week at 25mph, every 2-3 weeks I would take it on a 25 mile run at 40-60mph. No probs whatsoever, and I watch my DPF soot the whole time as I did have some problems a few years ago.

It’s not the actual dpfs that go t@ts up, its the ancillaries. For instance on mine, the car was working perfectly for 2 years and then the inlet manifold split very slightly which led to RP and then the yellow and red dpf full warnings. The dpf was actually fine (as evidenced by the low through pressure reading when tested.) it was all the sensors misreading, unable to cope with the erroneous readings.

The general consensus seems to be that the L405 is a better car, but the L322 is a better Range Rover.....

When did the 4.4 get the 8 speed gearbox? My 2011 model year (registered December 2010) only has a 6 speed gearbox. |

The 4.4 TDV8 always had the 8 speed gearbox fitted. It’s the one with the rotary dial.

That's what I thought but then I found some paperwork saying it was 6 speed and the manual shift option only let me go to sixth but perhaps I just wasn't going fast enough. I think it is an 8 speed despite the misinformation. |

This is what confused me. IID thinks it is six speed for some reason.

Don't worry, the IID tool reports all the 8 speed automatics as 6 speed |

If you only do that sort of mileage, why not get the petrol, no nasty devils juice problems.... |

I’ve owned 2 x 3.0 SDV6 D4’s and the SDV8 Fatty and loved them both but at that kind of mileage, I would only look at the V8 petrol as well |
