L322 Deployable side steps repair

Hi,

Before I got my L322 the side steps were broken on the brackets underneath.

Are these brackets easily found?
How difficult are they to replace?

If I scan with my IID Tool what should I be looking for on the codes?

Is there a way to see if the motors will work again?

Thanks in advance!

I thought you meant the normal ones.... might need to add Deployable to the title.

I’ve seen a few folk with broken brackets on here. Not sure if you can buy them separately.

I replaced a bracket on mine after I manage to smash it. I got a new one from Maltings 4x4 then promptly almost destroyed it by trying to strip down the bracket to grease all of the pivots before I fitted it.
Lessons I learned were
1 - The only way to do it is with new brackets , fitting new brackets is easy but I had to smash the old bracket to bits just get the motor off it,
2, - I reckon it will be impossible to strip old brackets down to try and build a good set from several broken bits.
3, - Welding doesn't work - I can't weld but 2 people I know who can got nowhere.
4, - Second hand brackets are likely to be siezed or at least so stiff they wont work properly, mine have been well lubricated since I fitted them new when LR were selling sets cheaply and they are still very stiff compared to a new one.
They're brilliant when they work but a pain when they don't - good luck

Having got deeper into my LH rear broken bracket I think Cass is 100% on the money.

Buy a new one or waste lots of time on something which will never work as it should. I was hoping to strip and make good from two different ones but now I'm in there taking the broken one apart it's just not gonna work like that.

Call to Maltings planned for Monday as it sounds like they may be the cheapest......... hopefully 2011 Vogue SE Tdv8 FFRR

Just to be clear the one I have is new (bought it by mistake) and at 90 quid less than half price. Geoff

Thanks for all the responses, especially the detailed ones.

I think I will leave it off unless I keep the RR for a longer time.
