Converting to EU6 Compliant.

A very interesting article in the August edition of LRO International describing the conversion of a Euro5 compliant LR Defender to Euro 6 Compliant May be of interest to members like Greg who are soon to face the £12.50 daily charge that London are imposing for non EU6 compliant cars.
It’s not cheap at £6,600 and it’s on a Defender not a FFRR , but it just shows that it’s possible and am sure will be of interest to many .

I guess it's not a linkable article Mike?

I did read about a Defender EU6 conversion; they put an EU6 engine in. Maybe the same one.

Essentially you can do it but you need VOSA type approval following monitored road testing on an off-roast trial facility. All very expensive as a process on top of the conversion cost.

Then you need various bodies to agree and accept the re-certification. eg London's TFL (who have converted loads of busses using their approved suppliers.

Unfortunately for me the recent London mayoral elections didn't go in favour of cancelling the ULEZ extension.

. Cheers, Greg

Sorry Greg, but it is not a linkable article.
It describes the conversion of a 2.2 TDCi Defender by a company called Cybrand and involves adding a new exhaust section and an Adblue tank and control unit.

This is a screenshot from part of the company’s website , which says they deal with compliance issues with the DVLA for the Defender conversion.
