Restricted Performance

Hi, I have been having the dreaded restricted performance coming up for weeks now and this has been resolved by clearing the codes with my GAP tool. The engine only does this when doing 50mph+, uphill and accelerating using a quarter throttle. Put your foot down and there are no problems. However no codes of any relevance were shown on the tool. I managed to get it to my mechanic with the car in restricted performance mode and the following fault was detected;

Code is P006A-84
Manifold Absolute Pressure - Mass or volume airflow correlation.

He thought it was probably a hose but after smoke testing them he could not find any leaks. Has anybody got any ideas what this is please? 2019 Autobiography SDV8 Byron blue/black - current

Not helping with the problem but your Gap tool needs a setting changed so that it shows all faults. For some reason the tool is supplied without the appropriate setting.

Show faults, select advanced then ensure that failed, pending and confirmed are all ticked.

It would be the 1st that I've heard of on a L405 for which the 4.4s started with a revised inlet manifold, which may have been introduced on the last of the L322 engines too as those engines had quite a few enhancements starting early calendar year 2012.

So the sensor was cleaned but made no difference. The Land Rover technical bulletin was consulted and it transpires that the fault code is a known issue which is caused by an airflow parameter being exceeded resulting in the issues I was having. Land Rover have a software update which has been applied and the problem seems to be resolved.

Many thanks for everyone’s input Bow down 2019 Autobiography SDV8 Byron blue/black - current

I know this is an old thread but today I had exactly the same problem, acceleration up hill then Restricted Performance slowed me down (I wasn't going that fast Rolling with laughter ). It all cleared when I stopped for lunch!. Is this a software update that can only be done by a main dealer or can I do it myself using IIDTool? Geoff

I believe it can only be done by either a main dealer or a LR specialist who has access to this software. 2019 Autobiography SDV8 Byron blue/black - current
