My new (to me) 2009 TDV8 L322

Just had my first Ranger Rover dropped of by the previous owner. A 2009 facelift TDV8 with 118k miles.
I have always loved Range Rovers but for whatever reason I have never bought one until now (I think the potential bork factor has put me off).

My first plan with it is to give it a good deep clean inside and out and give the paintwork a good polish and wax. Also on the immediate list is to remove the awful black side indicator repeaters and instal the originals (which came with the car).
It was serviced last week before I bought it so I am hoping I can concentrate on the cosmetics before having to carry out any mechanical maintenance (although it has 2 months RAC warranty remaining from the previous owner).

I will update this thread as things progress.

Looks cracking mate. Needs the right indicators on though, and you don’t even need any tools for that job.

Thumbs Up

Looks really tidy, nice buy, hope you enjoy the experience.

If the original side indicators do not look too good, ( Agree with you on the smoked look ones ) ) I replaced mine with the ones in the link, nice and plain, with no orange looking bulb, albeit on silver 2006, but they look really good. Some with or without the chrome. As per the previous post, easy to fit.

No connection to the company, I hasten to add.

Much better after a good wash and putting the original side repeaters on.

Nice looking car there sandman but those wheels have to go me thinks. They look more suited to a Mondeo or focus ST. Not disrespecting the car, just my personal opinion.

I’d like to find some LED bulbs to go in the original side indicators, to get the immediate on/off like the rest of them...

They’re Range Rover Sport wheels but although I don’t mind them I would rather have standard L322 wheels. It’s a shame as these are like new and are completely unmarked with new tyres on them. I’ll be keeping my eye on eBay though in case a bargain comes up.

What’s the spare wheel? Might show you what it had originally.

Keep an eye on the for sale section on here, theres always wheels coming up for sale by other forum members. Usually priced well and genuine ones whereas eBay they sell a lot of fakes on there. And keep enjoying the fattie, like you I've not long been a first new owner and just loving it more and more every day.

Something I only noticed after looking though other members car threads is the side vents on my car.
Are these standard or aftermarket vents? I have the 2010 MY brochure and the pictures in there are the type with the 3 horizontal slashes on top of a cheese grater design.
Is this some weird quirk of my car being a 2009 and being a 2010 MY?

In the accessories page in the brochure is shows that this style was available as an option (although the ones shown are chrome), it just seems strange that anyone would specify this style over the newer version.

In your photos, those look like the standard ones, I believe the colour is called 'Brunel Grey'. Can't see your bonnet vent, if the vent is original that will probably be the same colour as the 'side vents'

The Brunel grey 3 slots grill was used on the 3.6L TDV8s up to 2010 MYdespite the facelift the year before.
Yours is a 3.6L (3 slots grille, traditional gear shifter vs rotary one)

The new 'cheese grater' style came with the 2010 4.4L TDV8 introduction until the end of production in 2012 - they were body-coloured on the last year of production.

Interestingly, your car seems to have been '2012ed' with (apparently on these pics - hard to tell) black background rear lights, potentially black background headlights and the front grill surround has been painted body colour (should be Brunel grey).

All in all, it makes it even nicer indeed.

That explains it. The brochure I have is for the 2010MY with the 3.6l TDV8 but I guess the photos in the brochure are of the petrol model and that’s why they all show the cheese grater vents.
I’m not sure about the headlights being changed to newer ones. Here is a pic of the front of the car. Can you tell from this?

If you shoot a close up of the lights, front and rear, or post the original full-size version of the pics above, I'll be able to tell you. l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

Thanks, here are my lights in full detail. You can also see the grill surround has been painted. Ignore the dirt, black cars are a nightmare to keep clean!
