Back Again, hopefully for longer this time.

I joined this Forum in 2016 when I bought a FFRR Westminster, unfortunately I had to reject it as it had significant engine problems. I replaced it with a wonderful RRS1 HSE BLACK and had over 4 wonderful trouble free years

Now I’m back with a 2015 TDV8 Autobiography, Montalcino Red, Black Roof an Ivory interior, loaded with toys.

Wish me luck! Whistle

Thank you, I’m looking forward to being back in the beast.

As an aside Stan, I loaded the photo the same way in both forums, the RRS one came out in portrat while this one in landscape.

Whilst the L320 is a nice car, in my opinion the L405 is better in every way Wink Kev

Thanks guys and I agree with Kev that the L405 is a fabulous car, but, my RRS was absolutely fault free and I now have a slight leak from the rear diff, looks like it may be the breather. She seems to be marking her territory, but it’s my driveway she’s staining.
Fingers crossed

Well my first two weeks of ownership of my FF have not been easy. The curse struck again and the slight leak from the rear diff got worse and I returned the car to the supplying dealer and then on to an independent LR specialist who was brilliant. The first diagnosis of the breather, which they replaced, didn’t fix the problem. There are only so many places it can leak from and all seemed to be fine. Eventually, by injecting smoke into the diff they found it was escaping from the casing. You may know there’s no gasket on the diff just sealant. On dismantling they found that the sealant between the two half’s had been applied incorrectly in that it didn’t circle the stud holes, just put around the face and then torqued up. Over time oil had managed to get past the sealant and leak.
They told me they had never seen this before and believed that at some point in its life the car had had a new diff fitted, not that unusual for a FF. As the car has a FSH with main dealers it is most probable that the job was done by one of them.
They kept the car for a further 24 hours and drove, parked and checked it several times. The car was returned yesterday and the diff is dry, and when I checked it this morning it was still good.

My sanity has been restored so now I intend to enjoy it. And lets raise a glass to Indies.
