Best 22" tyres

Hey guys, just been to Kwik fit and just found out all my Toyos are completely shot. My fault for not checking tyre pressures when I bought the car. Anyhoo any of you nice guys on here recommend a good tyre for my overfinch wheels running on 285/35/22 tyres? Not really a fancier of budget tyres so mid range or premium will do me. Thanks in advance.

My recommendation is Pirelli P-Zero https://www.blackcircles.com/catalogue/pir...e=37055274 for roughly £250 a corner via black circles.

I have used them for many years over several cars and like them as they are grippy and quiet. Not the cheapest but worth the extra £££ IMO

I swapped a newish budget tyre with one a few weeks ago (damaged tyre Censored ) and there is a noticeable reduction of road roar / tyre noise. Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Past rides:
2014 Audi Q7 3.0d (good riddance)
2010 L322 Autobiography 5.0 Supercharged
2011 L320 HSE 3.0 sdv6
2014 Jaguar XF-RS 5.0 supercharged
2007 BMW 535D
2005 Mini Cooper S

My fronts are a pair of Hankook Ventura ST’s and I am planning to swap them when they are more worn… they are noisy tyres!!! Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Suggest Pirelli or Continental, however further suggest you look at 275/40/ 22 or 285/40/22
The 40 series tyres are closer to original tyre size and also protects your alloys from cracking if you hit a pothole, the 35 series tyre side wall dont properly support the weight of the L322 Thumbs Up

As Bronjen said above... Swap sizes to 275/40/22... MASSIVE difference in ride comfort, sidewall protection etc etc etc Thumbs Up

Ah bronjen probably explains why they are more worn on the outer edges then. The dude at Kwik fit did say they were bad and driving with slightly under inflated tyres shouldn't have really caused that much damage. So I'll take yours and Craig's advice and go for the tyres you suggest. Thanks guys, I'll get them fitted at some point this week.

Ok good suggest going for the 285 over the 275, as the 285 visually fills wheel arch better and gives the wheels a bit more protection the 275 look thin on such a big wheel in comparison Thumbs Up

I’m very interested to see how they look and how they feel when done. I will probably go for the 285/40’s when replacing my fronts. Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Thanks for advice guys. My gaffer the goods lad he is has allowed me to buy my tyres using his account and the only tyres they have in stock are the hankook ventus sport. Quoted £700 for all 4 fitted but then £140 vat knocked off so a grand total of £560 all in which I think is an absolute bargain. So I'm going to get them fitted upon my return from Paris tomorrow and will let you all know what they are like when I'm on my weekly drive from Bristol to Lichfield and back at the end of the week. Reading up on them they seem a really decent tyre. I know they can be noisy but shouldn't really hear them through the double glazed windows. Then book it straight in at Kwik fit the weekend to get the wheels aligned on their Hunter machine.

Brace yourself - you might have started another tyre brand war, I'm not sure that the dust has completely settled after the Accelera ceasefire was declared. Laughing

Got tyres fitted today and gosh what a difference it's made. I didn't realise how bad my old tyres were. Took it for a spin along some country lanes for about 10 miles and no longer get the floaty boaty feeling from the car, feels so much more planted through the bends. Then went onto the M5 from 14-15 and just feels so much quieter and no more vibration through the steering. I shall see how they fair in time. Booked in Saturday for Hunter alignment.
What I didn't know, when the nsr tyre was taken off, there was a huge cut in the tyre, no idea how that got there but it was seriously dangerous.

Glad you are happy with the new shoes - especially at that price!

That damaged tyre is worrying too! Good job it didn’t cause an issue for you.

I am curious about the ride being quieter… it makes me wonder about the noise from my fronts Sad
I have a lot of road roar from the front which you can hear even with the windows closed. I know my bushes are in need of replacement… but would that cause noise to transfer through the car like that? Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Thanks ffrr, you just don't know how bad they are until you get them changed. In regards to your road noise, how much tread do you have left on them? I know when I had my Saab aero running on Michelin pilots, when they got worn to about 4.0-3.5 millimetre they become really noisy and same with Goodyears too. I'm not sure worn bushes would contribute to loud tyre noise, more likely get clunking going over potholes and bumps but I'm new to owning an FF so I'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will be along to shed more info on your problem. How about the pressures? Sometimes they can make a difference.
