United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 V8 Buckingham Blue

Last couple of days, got the sill covers off to check for corrosion - surprisingly none found Shocked but to be on the safe side coated all the surfaces to give extra protection before putting the covers back on.
Then got the wheels off and arches and underside cleaned down and some light surface rust treated with Hydrade 80 before then giving the whole underside (and myself Rolling Eyes ) a liberal coating of Lanoguard.

Nitromors'd any exposed rust and Wayoyled the underbody, tailgate etc., now I have the big pamps, (sills and arches I did a while back), checked all round for leaks, stinks when hot now as I managed to get it all over the exhaust as well but that'll burn off in time.

Fitted the large bottle jack in the wheel well, threw away the standard widow maker scissor jack. Removed the rear window glass edge trim as was warped and looked terrible, just as good without it.

Greased all the door hinges as some were groaning a bit. Also cleaned the engine bay, I'll try to keep it this way.

New Rear Shocks

Changed the rear shocks yesterday and have an appointment with the RR-Indie for timingchain replacement.
After five years of carefree ownership of my fattie, the last six months have been rather expensive; mechatronic replacement 3500.00 (which would not have been necessary, this mechanic only got away without a trial because I had no proof) Censored new transfer box 1700.00 as consequential damage from the incompetent ZF-Indies, now another 5000.00 for the timing chain. Big Cry
At least I can now make my future trips to Andalusia without any worries. Thumbs Up

Tackled the 'Sticky Buttons' on the air suspension controls. I had tried a few different remedies without success but after watching a YouTube video I tried Isobutyl Alcohol and it worked a treat. A bit fiddly but well worth the effort.

Enjoyed the sunshine and used the time to give a full spring valet inside and out and then spent 20 minutes sitting on my wall, sipping a cold one and thinking how lucky I am to be able to own, maintain and drive such a magnificent beast! Today I am tackling changing the oil on the auto box. I bought 20L of Transguard 8 from Smith & Allan. My plan is to just do an oil change today and then drive it for a month and drop the oil again and also change the sump/filter. That way I think I should have a good flush and replace most of the fluid.

The fluid that came out was looking fairly black so obviously it was due a change. I am just about to hit 60k miles so I am in line with what ZF (but not LR) recommend.

Tackled a brake bleed on the beast today, all in all 2 hours and just under 2 litres.
Been a couple of years and fluid was looking rather cooked. Since we do a lot of mountain driving as well as driving quite fast on the Autostrade it was definitely due
Did feel a positive difference Very Happy
