so i get a text from my local main dealer saying that they are paying exceptional prices for under 70k miles, up to 7 year old and FSH range rovers .
mine comes into that criteria so do i sell [maybe not to them] and get a cheap runabout till prices drop and then purchase a newer FF?

I have had the same thought, likewise with the tin tent that is currently worth considerably more than I paid for it 3 years ago.. we have more cars than people so wouldn't even need to pick up a run around.

But on reflection, who knows when prices will come down if they ever do, and do I really want to part with the things I enjoy?

Like a lot of things in life, there will be an element of risk, but it could be a good idea, once the new version is out, I would think that there will be a lot of two / three year old cars for sale. As for when the prices will drop back to normal, that is the million dollar question.
If you were prepared to rough it till middle of next year, then it sounds like a plan. I would love to have your dilemma Sir.

Why do you need to buy a new one? is there something you don`t like about yours?
So you spend money on a runabout to save money on a new more expensive car that may not be as good as the one you already have?
It's all a bit of a gamble? will price`s fall or stay up? It`s a bit like buying and selling property which can be a long term prospect and can lose your shirt

We recently sold our VW California camper via Motorway.co.uk - I'd noticed a few people saying WBAC were offering daft money, and so we enquired... and as it turns out we stood to make a handsome profit on a car we'd owned for 12 months and done 8000 miles in... so we pushed the button.

Sent a load of photos, they made an offer, we countered... we accepted the second offer and they arranged collection - took a week from start to finish.

We sold the car to a Dealer chain in Sussex, and within a week of collecting they'd listed it on their site for 8k more than they gave us for it... which was 20k more than we bought it for a year previous.

I think they dropped the price recently...

Would definitely use Motorway again though if I was in a similar situation. Andrew.

I have always sold private, with very little hassle. Usually people know what they want, our cars are good examples and I set expectations that the price is the price.

I regret selling so many cars At the time I though I got good money for them, but if I could buy them back for that price today I would in a heartbeat. Just done this with the tin tent, took 3 hours to sell, which is crazy. We bought immediately from a private seller who knew the market and had priced sensibly.

Prices will come down, all comes down to how much are you really making? Would have to be a pretty good number for you to go for it. Having a run around motor for a wee while wouldnt be bad . I'm needing to change mine December next year so i'm just going to wait and see.

You could always advertise here, that would be a toe in the water, always lurkers out there looking for one..

Hi Stan, I am selling mine next month (Sept), probably to motorway.co.uk. The car value has risen 10k since March this year, so I will be getting a runaround while my new car is built  SDV8 AB MY 2019

As other have said, put the details into motorway and see what they think it’s worth.

It’s a gamble. Who know what prices will do. Having to drive a cheap runaround wouldn’t make any saving worth it to me and the temporary car will be more expensive to buy now than it should be and could drop a lot cancelling out some of the benefit. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid

from memory (my partner handles most of the 'admin') you submit the photos along with a price you'd be happy with, and then dealers make offers which are presented to you and it's then up to you to accept them, or counter if they low-ball!

We've sold many vehicles over the years, and this was by far the least hassle we've ever had even accounting for the small amount of haggling that was required. Andrew.
