ULEZ expansion in London

Anyone here weighing up the viability of L322 ownership in London? I reckon it's going to cost me an extra £2k per year but so was my old Audi and therefore I decided I could scratch the itch for an L322 for a year at least until ULEZ cars (the ones I want) come down in price. Trouble is after only a week of L322 ownership I can't see how I could drive anything else Embarassed
That's not my issue here - I'm thinking of all the people who own non ULEZ compliant cars that are now facing a big hike in running costs on top of all the post covid stuff and rise in energy prices i.e the poorest who can't afford to buy a newer car. I know from experience the terrible air quality in london but it's the people who can least afford to buy a ULEZ compliant car that are going to be hit hardest. Noticed another thing while talking with dealers over the last few months is that they are seeing a lot of people turned being down for car finance so for many it may not even be possible to buy a ULEZ compliant car even if the want to. Our mayor got elected on a promise to clean up london's air which very important but things have changed. It needs to be delayed, phased in or just apply to the worst polluters (like me) - discuss..... 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

buy a petrol car or we stop driving in towns.
I agree the least well off folks are having controls put on their choice of compliant vehicle, but as petrol cars only have to be EU4 then there should in theory be plenty to choose from, including older vehicle, the the idea is not for it to be a financial penalty, but to be a deterrent from ownership in the first place and a push towards electric and public transport, which frees up road space.

EG, my D4 is non compliant as a 60 plate Diesel EU4, my 12my FF was EU5 and would cost £12.50, but my old 55 plate octavia VRS would have been compliant as its an EU4 petrol. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

For once, having mobility issues works in my favour.

My L322 is registered as tax class Disabled and as a result I'm currently exempt from all Clean Air Zone, Congestion, LEZ and ULEZ charges.

I can also go through the Dartford Crossing and the M6 Toll for nowt.

Dunc. The life you have is the only one you'll get; make the most of it.

All but the M6 Toll are automatic; you need to apply for a Mobility Exemption Pass from the M6 Toll but it's free.

Yep. Pretty much all post 05/06 petrols. I think even a 4.2 is compliant. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
