analgue tv on touch screen

now that nearly all of the uk is digital, i wonder what use the tv function on the fullfat would be..i know you can get a hybrid tuner for about £250/300 but i'd rather spend that kind of money on 40'' led for my toilet ..
if a small low powered uhf transmitter was available then you 'could' plug a freeview box and tune in the fullfats tv , a bit fiddly but could work..
any ideas? [sensible ones john Wink ] ... - .- -.

Keep your eye our for a 12V freeview box, and either connect the scart video and audio outputs into the Aux in on the TV tuner, or look for one with RF output (rare though now).

Scart pin-outs are easily available and the relevant pins to connect too are on this forum, so making up a lead isn't tricky.

I see where you are coming from stan - makes sense...

This is the tricky bit:

"small low powered uhf transmitter" <- can't find anything on this (beyond my realm of understanding and probably illegal without a licence!!)

But I am guessing, even if you could tune in, you would have to use the freeview box remote to control switching channels etc.

It would be good to find another use

As Simes says, the most straight forward way is to plug a freeview box into the AV inputs. These are many and plentiful for @ £50 on the bay (I love my car website etc) .

Thought about doing this I have got the small freeview box (6 volt) but struggled to find the RF in on the MOST tv tuner and not sure about the screen aerials as they are powered from the cars receiver, Do they need to be powered or will they work without?

any idea's??? Mine was a blue one! Smile

simon, as it is , the touch screen tuner has an input for video but no audio..so you could connect a freeview box with rgb outputs to the screen but you wont get sound...the MOST system is very hard to 'hack' hence the extortionate prices for hybrid tuners..

mick, interesting but expensive and you wont get sound.

tim, i used to have one of transmitters ages ago but since cant find where i put it ..yes, you would have to change channels with the freeview box but that could be sited anywhere in the car as the ranges antenna should pick up the transmitter pretty well..

andy, i believe the antenna amp is powered.... ... - .- -.

If we take this back to basics the car tuner is looking for a analogue signal thats what a Freeview box generates so in theory if I connect an aerial to my freeview box then connect the output rf lead to the Tuner it should tune to the freeview box's output.

Problems are
1 the Car tuner has two aerial inputs the freeview box has one output so how do we connect that.
2 The car aerials are powered (active) which the freeview box will not do so how do we power them or will they work without?
3 How do I connect them as there are two to the freeview box's single rf in?

Good thread this come on lads and lasses lets solve it. Thumbs Up Mine was a blue one! Smile

the analogue uhf signal is processed by the antenna amp and then on is part of the MOST system which is not cheaply hackable.. i cant see away of introducing the freeview signal into this system.. ... - .- -.

Thought the aerials plugged straight into the cars TV receiver? Mine was a blue one! Smile

That is the problem Stan but If you can turn the signal back to analogue between the Aerials and the reciever you have a chance and it gets round the audio issue because the car is just looking at one channel? like a tv with a freeview box at home? Mine was a blue one! Smile

there must be thousands of cars of different manufactures that have analogue tv's in them so you'd think someone would have come up with a cheap solution.. ... - .- -.
