L322 3.6tdv8 Do I upgrade or spent money on refresh

Four years ago a bought my 3.6tdv8.
Stornaway & fantastic s/h. The only thing to have gone wrong is alternator & condenser.
I have fitted L405 alloys & facelift LCD genuine rears .
The car is sat on 110k miles & everything works .
My dilemma is do I upgrade to late model with 4.4tdv8 or spend money on mine to refresh suspension bushes & ball joints etc . 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Stornoway Grey with Jet interior NOW SOLD

if you are happy with it, spend the money fixing it up, so long as there’s no major rust creeping in under the cill covers it should be pretty easy.

At present you will pay over the odds for a 4.4, and though there are many upsides, which are well discussed on here, it’s is still basically the same car…

Give yours a refresh, spend a few quid, do the bushes, any fluids which haven’t been done, get all the lines checked, change the EGR valves and turbo hoses and it should be good for a fair few more miles than that. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

If you fancy a change then change…….but, odds on the new steed will possibly want bushes, all oils need changing, other bits & bobs so you’ll still have to open your wallet.
You know what’s been done to yours over the past 4 years, a few bushes here & there & she’s sorted.
As Northern says above, 4.4 prices are maxed out at present (as is all used stock) yes you’ll get a decent price for yours but you’ll have to delve deep into your wallet for a good 4.4 as they’re making serious money at present.

Spend a shekel or two on yours & see how you feel in a few months time. 2012 Orkney Grey Westminster 4.4TDV8 with Ivory interior.........nice!

Thanks for the comments. I know that risks are to be had with any RR & I do know mine well. How much better is the 4.4 compared to the 3.6? 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Stornoway Grey with Jet interior NOW SOLD

I've had a good bit of experience of running both of them side by side
The 4.4 is undeniably the better car in a hundred different ways and wins by miles with bragging rights or when comparing numbers between the 2
BUT once the novelty has worn off and it is now just your transport, is it worth the extra money? That's a decision that only you can make, try driving a 4.4 then drive yours home and see what you think.
Personally I wouldn't be swapping a good 3.6 plus a good lump of cash for an unknown 4.4

Thanks . It would not be an everyday car anyway. So drive twice a week maybe . Other than gearbox weakness that can effect both it it simply - turbos, condensers , airbags , alternators etc on both ? 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Stornoway Grey with Jet interior NOW SOLD

Gearbox weakness? On a 4.4 ? Never heard of that… that’s not a thing….

Main issue on the 4.4 is the oil cooler leaking.

I skipped the 3.6 as I didn’t want to worry about the EGRs/turbos…..

8 speed gearbox linked to the torque of the 4.4 is epic…. Had mine 6 years… still love it.

Drive a couple of 4.4s and see how you feel, only you can decide if it’s worth it. The newer car won’t necessarily have less rust though….

Blank your 3.6 egr physically and then digitally then remap it and you'll not be far off a 4.4

Depends on how much is the delta between the two choices, but if you like your current one, do spend the money on it to make it great again.
I've had my L322 fully revamped (all fluids, all consumables, hoses, gaskets, full brakes, renewed trims, respray, the lot) last year and I still grin every time I jump in it.
Absolutely no regret - but it means you're keen on keeping it as you would not recoup your expense if you sell it within 6/12 months really.
