Spark plug change on 2011 supercharged

I’ve just changed the spark plugs on my 2011 supercharged. It was a bit of a mission and took longer than planned so I thought I’d share some photos. It will either put people off doing it themselves or encourage others to have a go. It’s a recently new to me car with 148k Km and no service history so I bought a service kit and have done all of the bits and left the hardest to last. My car is LHD. I started off with the right hand bank as you face the front of the car.

A lot of stuff in the way but you can easily get to the nuts holding the coil packs (more of that later) and getting to each spark plug was ok with a 6 inch extension, 12inch and a universal joint in various combinations (without these forget it). Took me an hour and a half. Note this is my first spark plug change on any car.

I gave it a a rest thinking Left hand bank for the next day and challenging myself to do it quicker as there was slightly less space but less stuff in the way.

Right across the 4 nuts holding the coil packs in is a plastic housing carrying the wires to the coil packs. That took a while to gently take off. I know there is clear coolant line here that wasn’t me and will be getting the correct fitted shortly.

That lets you get the holding down nuts off and coil packs off.

Left hand bank took me 3 hours but I was forcing myself to go slow and steady. Plugs defiantly needed doing and I’ve saved my self a fair bit and got a lot of satisfaction from doing the job. Major service here would have be daylight robbery. Current

Thanks for the tip. I’ve checked and there is shortening of that line but not to bad, however I will put it on the list of things to do. Thanks again. Current
