Thermostat Housing ....Whats this bit....?

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me what this hose is that connects up to the Thermostat Housing on a 2010 3.6TDV8 ?

As you can see part of the plastic broke off when removing it - it has a thin metal 'locking slide clip' that goes over it and is pulled up to release the pipe and then pushed down once refitted.

The plastic end piece just slides on and is locked in place by the sliding clip so I'm surprised if it is a water pipe... maybe EGR cooling related (?) but hopefully someone can come up with an answer.

I've looked on Microcat and the pipe isn't shown which is really odd. Also looking on ebay for all things TDV8 hose/clip but no luck so far in any picture's.

I think it comes as part of the complete thermostat housing
