Probably, but I prefer to have the cable option to keep my phone charged.
Still very much a case of trying all the options.

In the past I have tried all sort of ways to use my iPad mini, but it just will not support CarPlay when tethered to my phone.

I really like Apple maps as a satnav.
It’s all working correctly now and the directions are announced over the car audio using the Aux input socket in the rear.
I don’t know how it updates traffic conditions, but it shows temporary road works and road closures very clearly and in virtually real time.
A section of road I used yesterday was showing all clear.
I have just returned on the same road this afternoon and it was showing roadworks and delays, then I came across a set of temporary traffic lights where the gas board had dug up half the road overnight.
I can get the announcements by tuning to a spare FM radio channel., but happy to cable it via Aux input.
I have not tried the music via USB stick facility yet.

it is a massive step up on navigation Mike..

did you use your 'slide in' bracket like you did with the sat nav?
how did you route the cables?

i spent a good few hours fettling my unit's brackertry this afternoon...i got pretty stable and its the cabling i need to sort now and a test run.. ... - .- -.

Yes Stan,

Slide in bracket , then unit stuck to backplate using 2 double sided Velcro patches.

I have formed a loom with the three cables from the unit, into the top glovebox through the lower glovebox , then behind the side carpet to the gap between the passenger seat and the tunnel.., where the phone lead comes up to the centre tray to keep my phone connected and charging.

The power lead and Aux cable carry on under the rear carpet and then plug in.

I don’t want to make it too permanent, because one advantage is being able to use it in other cars when needed.

More pictures available if needed.

I like the final position.
It is very easy to read from both passengers and driver’s seat, but is just low enough to not restrict the screen view in any way.

I think I can do it better, but will run with it like this for a few days , then try again.

The main problem I am trying to get round is how to hide the wiring, but at the same time be able to quickly remove the unit when I park up so it won’t get pinched.

I should have said, the loom just folds away into the top glovebox when not in use, but it looks neater when in use with the 3 leads separate, so I may I untape them and re- think.( the joys of being retired, plenty of time to play around.)

its a shame about having to have them cables/plugs in the side of the unit...

i'm using 108mhz for the sound and its seems ok so i only have 2 cables/plugs to hide...

i've been looking for some kind of quick release bracket but cant find anything [yet] Mr. Green

really impressed with this piece of tech and i'm contemplating getting the retro fit kit so its all hidden away and you use the FF screen.. ... - .- -.

the one i have found is for the L405 but i'm sure theres a version for yours.....costs around £500 and the gubbins is put behind the glove box i believe...
you then press the FF's nav button and it takes you to the carplay/android auto screens..you loose the OE nav but thats not a great loss..

i loaded bbc sounds on mine today and that works well.. ... - .- -.

just fettling the fitting at the moment Mike..waiting for a bit of paint to dry.

i want to get the unit as close to the trim as possible so i'm adjusting the bracket bit by bit..

i know ios can connect wirelessly but not sure about android which doesnt bother me at the moment as my phone charges when connected vis usb cable...

i'll do some pics when fully installed ..

hows yours? ... - .- -.

I’ve tried that but it keeps disconnecting again , but I have no problem with it when I reconnect it to the car.
I am happy to use it wired, bu just a pity I can’t hide the wires.
I am considering removing the air vent to see if I can route them through from there.( even if I have to try and buy an old plastic vent to play with.
