Deployable Tow Bar

Is there any maintenance that can be done on this? Mine played up this morning and it took about a dozen resets before I got it deployed - I think it was due to the cold. Geoff

Good question. I have assumed a bit of WD40 here and there may help but suspect it would attract some dirt etc. I'd be interested in the answer too. 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

How's your battery, Geoff? If you have an IID, check for battery related codes?

I never actually try to deploy with the engine running at all - something to try Thumbs Up

I've always assumed battery is OK as car always starts no problem but i'll dig out my IDTool and check - why didn't I think of that Bow down Geoff

On mine, you can't deploy the towbar with the engine running

i suppose to eliminate a low battery voltage problem you'd have to connect a trickle charger.. ... - .- -.

I kind of skimmed it.

I'm paranoid that mine will play up just when I need it most.....

I would have to check but I don’t think mine will deploy with the engine running Stan… 👍

Thanks all, I haven't tried deploying with the engine running so I can't comment on whether it is or isn't possible BUT according to my IDTool the battery voltage is only 12.6v without the engine running rising to 14.4v at tickover. The document suggests you need 14v at least for the tow bar to deploy, so even though the car starts fine I bet on a cold morning it's even lower than 12.6v. Todays readings were taken on a Tesco car park while I waited for SWMBO to do a bit of shopping. I plan on simply leaving the tow bar alone (its deployed now) until the battery gives up properly. Geoff

I seem to remember someone posting a link to a video of a failed unit being striped and rebuilt with a £2 micro switch that was sticky. letters not necessarily in the right order
