RR L405 2014. “Low Battery start Engine” warning

Previously reported issues with touch screen and now battery low issue. Arranged for both original main and back-up batteries to be replaced and hope that this maybe the cause for the touch screen and CD player to play up. Watch this space.

Were they replaced by JLR? If not, was the ecu updated to know it has had a battery replacement?

Ok, yes the car needs to be told via diagnostics that the batteries have been replaced… Or the low battery message may stay on the screen etc etc

Landranger remapped the car on battery replacement. No ‘battery low’ warnings at present. They showed me about two weeks ago on their diagnostic equipment the three crosses in the boxes relating to Audio, sat nav and phone, which were all working when I bought the car in August this year (my first Landy) They consulted a specialist and recommended checking the two high level located
black square boxes in the rear body panel fuse box. (Checked the 40amp and 15amp fuses relating to the 3 problem issues and they were fine) These two black 25 mm square “relays”? are very difficult to remove, but interestingly the 3 issues share the the same earth (ground) connection. The only other avenue I can think off is the rear roof mounted module?

Getting similar on My 14 AutoBio 5L SC has the smaller motorcycle style battery. I checked the voltage when off and it read 13v when off and 14 with engine running. It was hooked up to the leads but my start stop is somehow not working (I don’t mind having no start/stop…button lights fine but seems Prev owner disabled it somehow). But I get “low battery warning on the dash”. I just changed my main Bart like 3 months ago (did not have it programmed) and it reads 12.x volts when off and 13 with engine running. Is this normal? Why am I getting the battery errors…bc I didn’t get the new main battery registered? Or is the AUX battery malfunctioning with the read-outs it’s giving me? 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC

Attempting to remove my roof mounted GPS antenna soon, is it an easy job and are there any useful videos/ sketches to hand?

Hi Horse86, you need to get your main battery programmed to enable the electrical systems to function correctly. This would include the auto stop start. The function of the auxiliary battery is to keep the voltage stable while the main battery starts the engine in the auto stop start cycle. I changed my main battery and the auto stop start did not work until I programmed it with a diagnostic tool.
Hope that helps.

Thanks diesel…

I’d actually prefer my start/stop to not work lol

But maybe programming the battery will fix my side steps. It’s like they are not getting enough juice or motor is dying. They just barely budge when I open/close the door. I’ve since turned them off.

Inspection end of month and I have a note in for them to reprogram main battery. Hopefully being 6 months in the new battery isn’t hosed from taking the re-program. 2014 FF Autobiography 5.0 SC
