Flashing park brake

Tried a search but weirdly came up with nothing.

Sometimes when I get in the car and start her, the parking brake symbol is flashing. Other times, it's just normally on.

Before I dig out the manual, anyone know what the difference is? 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'

Mine started flashing but the parking brake [or emergency brake for the purists] also stopped working. 6 months down the line it started working again all on it's todd and the light stopped flashing!!. Sorry I can't help.

Handbook says it flashes if there's a fault but it should also show "PARKING BRAKE" which it doesn't. No faults, either. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'

on a couple of occasions I have had the park brake light flash as you describe, no faults showing. I released and then reapplied the brake and all was fine. I put it down to the brake not fully applying before I turned off, not had any issues since so may only have been lack of use 2011 TDV8 Vogue SE

I have exactly the same as described in the first post - last time I got my local indie to take a look when in for service he said he could see messaging errors but no actual fault codes showing up - he thought it was some electrical quirk and didn't seem too bothered.

I don't even know how to check if the parking brake is actually applied or not aside from the red sign on the dash, so not got a clue if its an actual problem and not applying or just a bonus 'feature'

Mine does it occasionally and a scan shows lost control with parking brake module. Could be voltage dropping on a tired battery. Mine reads 11.8v after leaving it overnight so probably will need replacing soon. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

My MY12's symbol can stay on keeping the instrument cluster alight all night flattening the battery after having driven through puddles or hosed out mud from under the guards and around the brakes, with a fault code indicating lost comms with the park brake module. I expect the cause is water getting into the connector at the park brake module as the fault clears when the vehicle is driven next day, having had time to dry out. Over summer I'll clear the dirt from around the area but access to the connector is quite difficult as the module is above the e-diff.
If the symbol is showing when switching-off then I connect a battery charger for the night.
