Hi guys, looking for some advise. Put my car into Land Rover Main dealer for an MOT and unfortunately it failed on brake pipes and a suspension arm. Aggreed a price for new brake lines and two front suspension arms and took the car back in to have them replaced. Told it was a 2 day job. 1 week later I still haven’t got my car back and now had the dreaded phone call - the mechanic has snapped one of the front bleed nipples and stripped the threads on the other ( same caliper ). After a phone call to LRUK and speaking to the service manager, they’ve agreed to pay half the price of a new caliper. Just looking for some advise on where to go from here? I can understand that things break, but surely getting me to foot the bill isn’t right.

I think the problem you have is that the brake pipes were in a state that they needed replacing. The dealer can argue that the defect was repeated in the caliper which made it liable to breaking when any force was applied and reflected the general condition of the braking system.
Might not be what you want to hear but I think an offer to pay half would be considered reasonable.

A competent mechanic should be able to remove a seized bleed nipple without wrecking the callipers. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

They had an engineering mob into look at it but they refused to do the job because the threads were stripped out the caliper itself. Probably didn’t want to be liable for it incase anything bad happened.

Just shocked at LRUK customer services telling me it’s between me and the dealer to sort it out, her exact words “ we can’t tell the dealership what to do “. Not as if the words LAND ROVER are written above the front door…

Having thought about it, I think 50/50 isn’t such a bad outcome.
