2012 i pod sound issues

Hi All,
I have a 2012 L322 with an i pod connectivity/sound issue.
The sound sound very low level and tinny, the vocals are not coming through.
I have tried a different I pod, 3 different leads including a genuine RR lead, to took out the socket in the cubby and checked the connection behind and nothing, but occasionally it does sound not too bad and once today sounded great for a few minutes and then the sound quality faded away again.
i can only think its the lead between the head unit or the head unit?
Anyone any experience this before?

Hi,

Did you ever manage to get anywhere with this? It sounds like I’m having a similar issue. The sound for the aux cable, dab and fm all works fine. However, the iPod sound is as if not all of the sound signal is being transferred I.e tinny sound, low volume and parts of the sound file missing. I’ve tried a bovee adaptor and an invery adaptor, but both exhibit the same issue.

Any help is much appreciated.

Don't know if it will help, but I managed to fix my issue.

I removed the ipod and USB assembly from the centre console and noticed that the connector at the rear of the module was the same as the one for the ipod cable. I inserted the cable from the rear of the module into the ipod connector, (on the front) and inserted the ipod connector into the rear of the module; i.e. I swapped the connector around and hey presto, the Bovee and Invery products both worked perfectly.

I then disconnected the unit and played about with some of the pin receptacles in the ipod connector with a toothpick - reinserted as normal and everything works perfectly.

I wonder if one of the pin receptacles was perhaps slightly bent or something along those lines.
