What is the cheapest entry and ownership into FFRR life

Interesting debate over tea and coffee today in the office:

On a budget what is the best value FFRR?

This led to a real split:

1) Those who said Classic because of the rise in value as they become more collectible, the detractors that rust repair costs would be prohibitive on a budget. But declared it more reliable as it’s more simplistic

2) P38 as the lowest cost FFRR you can buy, detractor’s that fuel and reliability would be unworkable

3) L322 as the best mix of running costs and relative reliability on a budget, detractors that reliability is no better than p38 at a higher entry cost with depreciation still happening

Would be really intrigued by your thoughts on this!

Netherlands 2010 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Santorini Black

In the current market it’s more a case of being lucky and ready to strike opposed to a set answer.

To me the 5.0SC posed the best value, a very high level of standard specification and an amazing engine and suspension setup makes it very easy to live with on a day to day basis. Many people being scared of bills, fuel, and timing chain guides means the cost is very low for what you can get. And on top of it, it’s ULEZ compliant so keeps Greta happy as well. To me it’s still the best value FFRR.

Interestingly none of mine were unreliable when I used them as a daily vehicle but the reliability tailed off once they were left and only used every now and then - I ran each one for a good no of years and did about 20 to 30k a year all good

Why is the L322 so cheap at the moment? I’m looking as you all know and Disco 3s with higher miles are more expensive!?!

I know they are not a bad vehicle but like for like it makes no sense to me
