Check engine light immediately back after "fix"

Hello everyone,

I'm a new owner of a MY18 L405.

The car has done 34k miles but within 100 miles of me owning it the check engine light came on. I took it to the local LR dealership and they fixed it under warranty. However, within a further 50 miles it's come back on again. Exclamation

Do you think that this indicates a deeper problem than the usual emissions filter problems?

I'm obviously going to have to take it back to the dealership (I've spent more miles going to and from there than I have doing anything else in the car!). I'd like to go armed with a bit more information and pertinent questions if possible though.

Many thanks for any thoughts you have.

Welcome to FF ownership. You are encountering the fact that the car is incredibly clever and the service staff are incredibly stupid.
The danger with OBII is it gives codes that give hints and whilst they never lie they do miss vital facts and love to sell a dummy.
Do not let it spoil your enjoyment of the car.
I suggest you make it abundantly clear to the dealer that you are far from impressed with them and you expect far better. letters not necessarily in the right order

Thanks for the welcome!

One benefit of the car, so far, is discovering this forum and the excellent community here. I've enjoyed flicking through some of the older posts to try to get up to speed.

'service staff are incredibly stupid'......'and love to sell a dummy'. Ahh the world of the uneducated generalisation.

My Son is a JLR master technician and has forgotten more than most on this forum will ever know. He and his team provide an excellent service and I know for a fact many techs strive to do their best.Same as most large scale service industries - its often the management structures and financing behind the company that makes life so difficult.

Spare a thought and please don't generalise in such a way.

OP: Good luck with the fault code. Thumbs Up 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

This is a forum of well meaning individuals so I will apologise to AJ for generalising. The sell a dummy was referring to the fault codes on OBII. letters not necessarily in the right order
