Had a mkI Granada Ghia Coupe - really desirable car in it's day.

My Grandad had a 3.0 manual when I was about 13. Loved it.

Indeed, took a while to find a decent one even when they were not that old.

Can't remember the last time I actually saw one.

They get mentioned a bit in the Steve Saxty book, Secret Fords Vol 1. They looked at doing a Cortina coupe too, and there was a 2 door Mk2 Granada, but not in the UK.

The restored Sweeney car is fantastic.

The Cortina Coupe looks like the Capri's ugly brother. What do I put here then?

Had a 3 ltr Granada Ghia as a tow barge (in the background on right). Fantastic car and never let me down despite eventually having 150,000 on the clock. So unlike the heap of sh** masquerading as a Volvo 265 which replaced it. Would love to have another Granada as a usable classic.

The Sweeney car was a Consul GT. There was a potential issue with the use of the Granada name with Granada TV. Got settled eventually and the Granada name was used.

I was a bit too young as it was 1988 when I passed my test, and they were all mostly dead by then or used as banger racers. Used to drive my Grandads Granada in and out the garage and round the odd empty car park… private of course….

I’d still love one now. But then I’d also like a Cortina XR6, a Capri 280 and a series 1 Escort RS Turbo…. 🤣

The 3.0 Granada was less than 2 tons… similar to a Golf today… scary really…
