My early build L460 doesn’t have a locking fuel cap. Allegedly this is a permanent removal from all JLR products due to no longer being necessary with the ‘anti-syphon’ technology in the filler tube.

I had my now monthly chat with my salesman and still no info. He has a letter Rawden Glover saying that the Meridian is the big problem but their may be other hold ups.
Should I have ordered the DBX or a Bentaga.

Another month but the same answer from my dealer.
One bit of good news, my Porsche is built and waiting in Germany for transport. letters not necessarily in the right order

You say poverty spec, but I think that's where the smart money goes - It'll be many years before you see any kind of significant depreciation. Enjoy the new car Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Not long to go

Got an email today to say I (finally) have a build date in December and should be with me in Jan Very Happy It's a P440e HSE with a couple of extras

For context, I put a holding deposit down in Aug 21 with full order on 1 Feb 22. Roll on 23! I was thinking about giving up...

I wont give up because I want the car but am now getting angry and am feeling vengeful towards JLR.
Having told the dealer, that I have dealt with for 30 years, that I wanted to put my name down in mid 2021 he organised for me to see the car at the prelaunch at Gaydon in October 21 where I specked the car. The car was signed off at the dealers the day the factory opened orders.
They have made an utter Censored muddle of prioritising build and delivery. The communication to customers and dealers has been woeful and if any other manufacturer made a vehicle that came close I would tell Land Rover where they could stick it.
The world is going into financial turmoil and JLR will no longer be able to rely on being an aspirational fashion statement to move metal.
Censored off long standing loyal customers through shear incompetence will come back and bite them on the arse.
If there deal with BMW to supply engines was not robust enough then they should not have offered the option. Producing a special first edition to stimulate demand when they could not come close to meeting any demand was bizarre.
Using preciouses resources to get low specked cars out the door whilst pushing high specked customers to the back of the queue just causes resentment.

Have I managed to portray what a grumpy little piglet I am. letters not necessarily in the right order

Yes Dixy, but a justified grumpy piglet.

Hang on in there

JLR and dealers have full order books as far out as anyone's financial targets/incentives cover. Therefore they really don't give a damn how you or I feel.

I would gladly have walked and bought something else. But there's the problem, there isn't another product in the same space, and that's where they have got you.

5.0 sums it up perfectly.

This to me isn’t exclusive to JLR, the days of plenty have gone, whether momentarily or long term isn’t for me to say, as consumers we are going to have to adapt to scarcity of the things we want.

Older friends of mine tell me it’s like the “Good old days
” where you’d place a deposit for a Mercedes and with a choice of only 3-4 colours your car would arrive a year or so later.

My plan was to sell my L460 HSE after a year and buy a Taycan cross Turismo, an independent offered me £125k for it yesterday, because of increased interest rates and scarcity, the Taycan would be significantly more each month than my RR and wouldn’t be attractive.

I’m going to sit down today and work out my fuel savings and factor that into the decision.
