2012MY 5.0SC battery questions

Hi,

I've had a scout through the forum, but could not find what I was looking for so please bear with if it this has been answered already.

My battery was totally dead, after not using the car for around 1 week and I suspect that the cold weather was a factor.

So I think it's new battery time, but it looks like it has already been replaced some time in the past, as the battery fitted is a Duracell DA95H, which is a lead acid 95AH, not AGM.

Whoever put the battery in didn't fit it correctly, as the cable dressing doesn't seem right. My car has the ECU in front of the battery, and there is cable and water pipe that connects to the bonnet, but these are the wrong side of the negative cable to be put back into the two cable ties attached to the inner wing, and the positive terminal cover retaining tie is the wrong side of the cable and prevent the cover from reaching the terminal. Also, the ECU cable that is looped around has a cable tie and bracket fitting that does not appear to have a bracket to connect to, so I suspect that there may be something wrong with the routing or perhaps a part is missing.

Would someone who has the same model/year (2012MY 5.0SC) be kind enough to post a photo(s) of their battery area to include where the ECU cables and the bonnet connections are routed?

Photos of my battery are below.

From what I can gather, my car should have an AGM battery, but can anyone confirm that this is the case?

I have an IID tool to reset the for the new battery if needed, and I understand that the steering needs to be turned full lock in each direction to reset the steering angle sensing.

Cheers,

Rick

Perfect, many thanks.

That's not the OEM battery, and appears to be lead acid , not AGM.

I'm confused as various sites show both lead acid and AGM as suitable.

and https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic45804.html shows the part number for the 2011SC from Duckworths as AGM.

I think I'll go the 019 AGM route as all indications are that this is the correct battery for the 5.0SC petrol model.

In IID tool I could only find a battery reset option, and there is some mention of battery type settings elsewhere in the forum. Does anyone know if this needs to be set, or is this not an option on the later SC model and it's only battery reset?

Cheers,

Rick

Having read numerous threads many do seem to contradict one another . I think the battery type is under body control on IID tool .
I also think LR changed their minds on agm/non agm 🤷 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Stornoway Grey with Jet interior NOW SOLD

When I fitted mine there was just the reset option on the GAP IID tool. Defo get the AGM as this is what the charging system is designed for on the later cars. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Mine is an AGM, and its the early of the facelifts. Cable routing/wiring looks like what V8rumbler has posted.

Happy to report that the AGM battery is working well. Managed a 10 day stint between starts no problem.

Cheers,

Rick
