Change my air filter ... yes just the one

Hi Guys

The last 3 services were so called oil services, so I had no idea when the air filters were changed. Order some Hengst filters but I couldn't undo all of the air filter box screws; as 1 was badly corroded, so now I really wondered how old the filters were. I orders 12 new air box screws; which all came individually packaged (over kill) and set to it.

Happily the passenger side filter was new. On the drivers side I had to used a small hacksaw to cut a slot in it corroded airbox screw and used a large flat screwdriver, then pliers to twist it until it was out. Lo and behold the air cleaner in that side was filthy Shocked I don't know decided they could only be bothered to change one, but doesn't say much for the garage involved.

I replaced the filter with a nice new one and changed all 12 air box screws with new ones and added a dab of grease to the screw heads to prevent future corrosion.

My left filter is always clean because the secondary turbo is only occasionally used.

I had the same issue with me air intake boxes… screw rusted to the point of disintegration.
I was lucky enough to find the right screwdriver heads and body weight to get them moving so I could undo them.
I’ll be ordering some soon too…
Luckily my filter was a normal colour, unlike yours! Shocked Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Yeah I had to press down on some of them and use weight too, on that one and some of the others. Why couldn't LR just use clips on the airbox like everyone else Shocked

Cost about £14 inc P&P to get the 12 screws from a Jaguar site.

Perhaps the other filter is new, perhaps not, at least its clean Very Happy, but I'd have thought they both would be just as dirty. I'd wouldn't have expected 1 air intake per turbo Confused Encourage alternative fuels, use all the petrol!

I'll try and find it, my 322 is now long gone so I dont have anything to cross reference against. I replaced all of the fastenings around the bumper, wheel arch liners and the slam panel at the same time, it looked so much better. Easy enough to find on eBay. BMW i3 Electric Car
