Full Service

Well this Weekends task is a Full Engine Service on my 4.4 TDV8.
So it,s Oil change, Oil, Air, Desiel and Pollen Filters and whilst I’m in there I’m going looking for the slight Oil Leak that’s just shown itself at the Back of the Engine.

Up to now Oil removed with Suction Pump (what a great way of doing it 😎😎😎), reckon I got 9.5 Ltrs out 👍, Doughnut and Throttle Body removed and all the Top end stripped down.
On inspection I found the Turbo Oil Line to be the offending culprit, so the O Rings have been changed for Viton ones.
I have Oil Cooler Gaskets but it’s bone dry and there’s nothing in the ‘V’ so I’m leaving well alone as it’s not showing any signs of leaking.
Started to rebuild now after clearing the gunk out of the Air Intakes but waiting to see if the New Silicon Hoses turn up in the Morning before completing the Job.
Air Filters changed and checked the Air Flow Sensor but they are clean so nothing to do there.

So tomorrow is clean out the Throttle Body but it’s not bad really, change the Fuel Filter and Pollen Filter and put everything back together with Fresh Oil 👍👍

Very please with my progress so far, not as daunting a Job as I 1st thought.

Nice job Thumbs Up

I did those jobs myself not long ago (except oil seals) and like you say, it’s not too bad a job. “Popping off” the plenum is a relatively quick task now I’ve done it a few times.

You mention that the air flow sensors didn’t have any issues, however from what I have gleaned from various internet sources is that it’s worth cleaning with MAF cleaner anyway. They could be dirty but look clean and a spray makes a difference…
I am no mechanic… just passing on advise I’ve picked up myself and given the little effort involved I purchased a can and cleaned mine. Currently driving: 2012 L322 SE Overfinch 4.4 tdv8

Don’t forget to clean the MAP sensor on the top of the intake - needs regular unblocking of soot. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Don’t have any MAF cleaner, would Electrical Contact Cleaner work ?

I had the MAP Senor out a couple of weeks ago and it was quite clogged up, so it got a good clean out then 👍
