Oil level sensor not available

Hi Guys have a 2013 l405 4.4 can't get oil level reading.?? On my last car l322 5.0 no problems always worked..
So taken car to RR specialists use all genuine parts replaced faulty oil sensor big job strip down etc...£900 later... To now be told ECU has fault ?? Even though oil level sensor was told the issue & ECU would be expensive.. but surely this would show up on diagnostic prior to oil level sensor being done ?? Or not... Surely ECU fault would cause more issues than just oil level sensor not giving oil level.. anyone else had this problem or advise..
Can ECU be reprogrammed or replaced with secondhand one & then cloned with mine ??? Any advise
Many Thanks 👍👍👍 Big Cry Range Rover P38

Are you sure it's an ECU fault and not the turbo actuator?

The ultrasonic oil level sensor is mounted inside the sump and they are known for going faulty and allowing oil to seep into the wiring harness. Once the oil is between the copper conductors on in the wiring, it tracks up the inside of the cables and ends up in the turbo actuator electronics causing it flood with oil and fail.

There is an updated bridging harness to prevent this which I fitted to mine, here:

Land Rover have issued service instruction N375 to cover this issue. See here https://www.fullfatrr.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10080/N357.pdf Kev

@Tuckmeister
When I first got my L405, I had the same issue (fortunately fixed under warranty). I am pretty certain that it showed a fault code on my IID tool.

Are you sure N375 has been done on your car?

I had the same symptom --unable to see oil level "not available".

It started 4 months earlier, under warranty they replaced the turbo actuator as I had P0045 fault they also told me that N375 was complete on my vehicle!
4 months later I had the following codes showing, when oil level was not available.

P250B-37 Engine oil level sensor - circuit high. diagnostic device shows 11 litres!! and 6%
P250B-29, P250B-87 Engine oil level sensor - circuit range/performance
P0196-29 Permanent Engine oil temperature sensor circuit range/performance

LR Assist thought it was N375!
Dealer had the car for 3 days

Like squeezing blood from a stone, never did get a clear answer of what the real problem was, the girl at the desk said--

"There was a small Oil leak from the engine block from oil level rubber bung? (yet no oil showing on block paving?) was told it was contained by the protection tray. Bung was replaced! level now working. It seems this was disturbed during N375v2 whenever that was last done? Or did they fail to do it 4 months earlier!! or was it not done correctly? was my question--of course that question was never answered. 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue

This is what I am trying to find out as had mine sensor done & still not working now being told a fault in ECU need a new ECU..

Which I think is Rubbish.. when I mentioned N375v2 fitted
Yeah I am sure it was.. so I have left car with them to make sure it's fitted instead of guessing...

How much is ECU replacement ???? Bow down Big Cry Range Rover P38
