Rear window lower rubber

Don’t really know what else to call it? The rubber seal that sits at the bottom of the rear window.

Mines brittle and a few bits started to break away, anyone got a link to one please? And are they easy to replace?

Just spent an afternoon polishing her after falling out of love due to suspension issues, but decided I need to look after her a little more these days

If it’s any use, it was never fitted to the later cars. Many folk have just removed theirs and cleaned away any residue. It slides out sideways but might be stuck over time.

I appreciate Not answered your original question.

Just a thought.

Thanks gentlemen

Mjdronfield - so I can just remove it and clean it up? Won’t let any water in? Did see a video on YouTube where it’s pushed out from the side with a flat screwdriver

I meant you could remove it and then clean the car up where it’s been and not fit it back. It’s not fitted to the later cars, no water leaks or anything. I think it’s there to stop water dripping on you if you open the tailgate when it’s raining etc. LR then decided to fit them on the sides instead.

That said, no reason why you couldn’t remove it and clean it but there is no guarantee you’ll get it back easily as the rubber will be old etc. maybe warm it up in a bucket of hot water first….

It’s available as a spare part. I thought about replacing mine when I saw one on the shelf at my local LR workshop/spare parts dealer but in the end, I just drove it out with a wooden drift and a hammer. Ron B. VK2OTC

Cheers guys
Mine actually started breaking up when I ran over it with a sponge Big Cry so I’ll be knocking it out gently or just picking at it til it drops off

Then to replace the faded lettering

Thanks again
