Water in spare wheel well

Afternoon folks.

I'm currently working my way through the minor niggles with my recently acquired 5.0 S/C.

I've noticed that there is water in the rear wheel well and some unknown crystalline deposits forming on the underside of the boot floor. I had wondered whether it might be washer fluid and the crystalline substance is the anti-freeze chemical. I've also noticed that when I press the rear washer, I get a dribble of water running down the nearside of the window (on the outside). However, I'm sure that when I first picked up the car, the washer spray projected from the wiper arm as it moved over the window, which might mean that I have a partially blocked hose or nozzle. Could someone confirm how the screen wash should project onto the rear screen?

I've also noticed an unused connector in the spare wheel well with a little corrosion on some of the pins (see below). Does anyone know what this plug serves?

Cheers,

Tom

I think your unused connector is for the tow bar power Tom.

Ah, that's a good shout actually. The last owner had an aftermarket tow bar fitted, which might explain why some of the conductors have been modified and taped with electrical tape.
