A friend of mine has a new Evoque on order and cannot have the wireless charging system due to its magnetic fields interfering with her diabetic insulin pump and blood glucose monitoring wearable sensors etc.

So, my question is, can the entire wireless charging system be removed? Either at the factory or by the supplying dealer?

This is a make or break for my friend, and it only just came to light because this week LR changed the spec of the car for the third time since September! She was due to get the car in early March but was told yesterday it's now June with wireless charging added.

She's off there this morning. I think it's more than a simple disconnect, as the magnets need to be removed. Its held in the centre armrest. And her devices cannot be within 60cm of any magnets. I wonder if they'll need to leave an empty void, or will they imply any such removal would affect warranties etc. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior

Koto, the wireless charger won't be iPhone specific. It can charge all phones.
However, as said, it may not be just a case of removing the power if there are magnets involved.
I'm sure any good aftermarket in car entertainment specialist could remove the critical components easily as they would be used to dealing with the electrical aspects and associated trim removal to get at parts.
Any good LR dealer technicians should be able to do - it will be a case of are they willing to & how concerned they are about "non LR approved modifications"

PS I'm not sure if a wireless charger actually has magnets inside or just uses coils of wiring to generate the induced charging current & creates the side effect of magnetic currents Paul,

I didn't mention iPhone? LR is stripping out spec, obviously due to the chip shortage, but they are adding other items to make up for it. The car was ordered without a wireless charger, but now they are putting it in - uninvited. And my friend just wants it removed. They are also taking out the double central console screens...and if she wants them, she has to pay £250...she's off for a 'conversation' with them as we speak. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior

The dealer has advised the factory or dealer should be able to remove the wireless charging system, so the order is back on.

My friend has to sign a non-resale contract, similar to what LR is doing on the new FFRR. One customer at this particular dealer has been successfully sued after re-selling his new Defender...apparently. 2012 4.4 TDV8 Westminster - Baltic Blue, Jet interior

Beat me to it - she would be surrounded by a whole load of speaker magnets. And magnets in window motors, seat motors, door lock and other solenoids and multiple relays.

As far as l am aware wireless chargers don’t emit any magnetic radiation until a phone is placed on it to charge. I don’t see any real problem having a wireless charger in a car if you choose not to use it. As others have stated, l would be more concerned about all the other magnets, some surprisingly powerful, in the car.
Has the lady in question ever had a problem with her insulin pump in any cars previously?

She has never had wireless charging in a car before, so this is the first time shes encounter it.

Well, she was due to collect the new car today and to cut a long story short, it's not even had its PDI yet...

Anyway, LR is now saying they have removed the wireless charging from the car, but it's throwing up loads of fault codes and impacting other features.
