2013 Range Rover Autobiography 5.0 SC V8 Bonatti Grey

Rear wiper works when washing but not otherwise

I've a strange problem with my rear wiper. When I push the stalk button to wash the rear screen the wiper clears it as normal. If however I try to switch on by twisting the stalk nothing happens. Any ideas on where I should be looking for the problem? I haven't got a code reader.
