Am I mad?

This may seem flippant, but am genuinely looking for some thoughts on this.

A while back I posted on here in the hope that the current owner of my old L322 was on here in the hope they would sell it back to me. I do not think they are as no one came forward. Given how friendly the RR world is, I would guess they would most likely have sent me a PM saying they did have it but did not want to sell it if that was the case rather than say nothing.

Ever since I sold it, I have regretted it. The car has a lot of sentimental value. I sold it in 2015.

Looking it up, it has now doubled in mileage to around 160,000 miles. It is a 2007 TDV8 Vogue. The paintwork and bodywork were not the best as it lived a farm life from new.

I still find myself looking for it regularly. Before I actually blo**y well find the thing by accident, I thought I would ask you guys, am I mad to want a car back that I sold six years ago, has doubled in mileage, and actually was not the most reliable RR I have ever had, all because of sentimental reasons?

I have never had any form of addiction, but this desire to get it back if I was ever to find it and the owner was willing or had actively put it up for sale is very very strong.

I am genuinely interested in opinions on this and whether I am alone on this level of attachment to an aging metal box, that at that age and mileage must be past it's best. Any input gratefully received.

I know it is down to me in the end, and normally I can make decisions on my own.... this time ... not so much !

So as I say, thought I would seek professional advice and counselling from you guys before the Gods of misfortune toss it back in to my path! Very Happy Very Happy 2003 VW Golf V6 4motion

I went through this with an old car. Properly regretted selling it after 2 weeks

By sheer luck, I passed it one day after about 5 years. A Facebook post, a few messages, and I'd tracked down the owner Laughing

It had been involved in 2 accidents, been generally abused and neglected, and its current owner was on a tag/curfew Shocked
At that point, I knew I didn't want it back Thumbs Up

IMO stay away from it
If you find it I expect it will be like shagging an old girlfriend-not as good as you remember it

I did it once with a Granada Scorpio although it was with the bloke I sold it to. It was immaculate when I sold it and a wreck when I bought it back. Although I tried to restore it to it's former glory it never felt the same and decided to get rid.

Well, folks have been known to employ private detectives to track down a car….

That said…. Is it a case of never meet your heroes?… well, meet again?

Who knows. Perhaps you just need to see it again… then you will know…..

You can’t put a price on sentimental value or really reason with it.

If you want it though, you might not want to leave it too long… they don’t last forever….

That’s not helped has it?

You are right, I do not know the current owner, but there is only one owner since me and they still have it; it is taxed for the full year every year at once and all the MOT history is showing no issues other than a bit of brake pipe corrosion so it gives the impression of being cared for.

Can I ask then, would you rather you had not bothered with it on balance? Or did you still enjoy the whole process? 2003 VW Golf V6 4motion

Felt that way about too many previous cars, mk2 oak green, dc2 integra, the list goes on..

The only thing to do at this stage is follow it through. You won't be satisfied until you do. Can an HPI give you the current owner? Has to be an easy way to get some details.
