I'm getting a faint rattling noise during acceleration / under load at about 2000-2200 rpm. It sounds as if something is loose, somewhat between a tapping and a card on bicycle wheel spokes. It comes from the front center and perhaps a bit to the right. Pretty sure it's under the bonnet but I could be wrong. When it starts, it follows the RPM but once stable at that RPM, or above, the noise ceases. There is no noise while RPM drops through this range. There is no noise when the engine is revved stationary.

He narrowed it down to an exhaust leak. It's from the exhaust manifold - downpipe connection. Tried to tighten the nuts as much as possible (knowingly on a warm exhaust) twice. The 1st attempt made it worse, the 2nd much better so now that we have a positive diagnosis I've booked her for a downpipe removal and realignment/seating next Wednesday. The noise can easily go unnoticed at the moment but I know it's there and well, you all know the feeling | ||

but I know it wasn't there before and would like to pinpoint it if at all possible. Any ideas appreciated.
