Hi, I don’t have a service booklet for my RR, what I do have is a printed history of service from Land Rover.

Question is, I’ve just had my car serviced at at garage (genuine vat registered) but how do I go about updating this ?

Should I just purchase a blank service booklet to get stamped and does it need to be a landrover one or will a universal one suffice ?

there are no service books now, everything is online ..

My local independent also does it electronically, goes on the same system as LandRover...

But as someone who happily purchases a vehicle without it from a dealer system I would always be looking for alternative evidence in the form of invoices and receipts. Just keep a binder with the receipts to complement what you have from the dealer system. A service book with just stamps doesn't mean anything.

It was more for having the ability to staple receipts into the corresponding service book pages when I’ve had work done.

i would just keep the relevant receipts rather than a service book...as you can see the book can be 'manipulated'.. ... - .- -.

Receipts can also be manipulated.... mine come on A4 paper - I'm fairly sure I could knock one up in a few minutes....

Better hand over bank statements then 🤔🤣

From what I understand, the logic behind the on-line system was that it was somewhat tamperproof & also protects the privacy of previous owners.

...and it saves on paper, lost service books etc.. ... - .- -.

Makes it slightly harder for backstreet garages to join in and participate. Also comes with some restrictions as I understand from the manufacturers like not allowed to do performance modifications etc.

But it is really nice when selling cars back in the trade; both last two Mercedes AMG and my wife’s Audi were sold back to the trade. No need to find the paperwork at all. They already had it 👍

A lot of independent specialists are able to update the online system.

The local guy I used has access to it and does the online history for our cars. He always gives us a print out of the online history showing his update with the receipt when we pay the bill.

Might be worth looking for an independent who can do it for your next service.
