I understand some of your frustrations but a few things here really. Landrover will blacklist dealers and privates who have bought for themselves and then sold straight away so there is consequences to being a reseller.

The other being, once it’s their car surely they can do with it as they wish. If the supply and demand is there, they want to make a quick £20,000 i think that’s understandable?

Also by this happening it creates a halo car within the brand much like the GT3/ RS, you’ll always get flippers/ dealers but it does also create a stronger brand. It’s nice to know the one I’ve got coming won’t dump £40,000 straight off the forecourt for once.

That’s bs imo - JLR have had 50 years to produce a halo car, GT3’s are a completely different car which are never produced in enough numbers to have to discount. It was only 3 years ago that dealers were heavily discounting any RR to get them shifted. It’s profiteering at its finest and the dealers are clearly taking the Censored out of “loyal” customers - they are no more loyal in return than the next one, they sell whatever they can to the highest bidder, no more no less, anyone who believes any different is a mug.
I get business, I get it’s a free market - no worries. But, why bother going to the “premiere” listening to all the guff, speccing a vehicle with no lead time and then to see the usual suspects profiting- when the loyal contingent get left to wait, no info, no updates, no test drives, and no communication…….

It’s because they don’t have to as they have full order books, and lots of suckers who will pay through the nose for their Censored service. We are dropping £150k on a car and I for one expect better treatment 🤦🏻‍♂️

Maybe it’s just me 😱 but at the end of the day, the brand already has its detractors- I’m just not willing to play the game. There are plenty of other toys out there. I have 3 good friends who love the JLR vehicles, but will not buy another because of the dealers.

Best wishes to anyone who gets their car and is happy with it 👍👍

AFAIK dealers are obliged by JLR to do their best to avoid supplying re-sellers and can be penalised under their franchise terms if one of their customers re-sells and they cannot prove that they conducted due diligence to avoid this. Penalties can be substantial. JLR and the dealers know that re-sales annoy loyal customers, but there is a limit to what they can do, especially in the face of the scale of profits currently available.

Test drives are available (I hope for one tomorrow) and maybe shopping around would be helpful. But I'm told the expected delivery for a car ordered now is "some time in 2023". There is maybe a silver lining. If the early cars have problems then those that wait might get cars that are better sorted. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Oh dear. 🤦🏻‍♂️ I think you need to take a minute. This is a sensible discussion. No need to start throwing toys out of a pram calling people mugs because people are willing to pay over list. It’s happened for years across many brands and commodities. 19 L405 4.4 AB + Disco3 pick up + 800BHP Rothmans 911

I very much doubt that, after 50 years of building them you would expect that JLR might have learned a bit about corrosion and electrical gremlins but it seems there is plenty of evidence to suggest not.

Well said 7 CBD, JLR care not about their customers or loyalty.

Once your money is paid you join the gotcha queue, they could not get 10no L460 good enough for a promotion event in the USA in February and had to delay the event as advised by an employee close to the event.

My own L405 is with them 18 weeks now and I’m seriously tempted to park in a field by the M40 with a big sign over it.

Time to ditch them till reliability and customer service return.

Sadly it’s not just JLR. It is across a wide range of business and has been getting steadily worse since the financial crisis. Maximising returns in the short term takes priority. When demand is strong, customer loyalty, service and good workmanship, too often take a back seat. When we have a proper recession (not just the pandemic blip) and demand falls away, the effects of this attitude will be felt by the businesses run this way. They will then decide they need to change, but for some it will be too late. Recessions have been kept away for the last 12 years by overly loose monetary policy. But they are necessary to cleanse the system of greedy, badly run businesses. Tragically the poorest in society are the ones that feel all the pain from these necessary events in the cycle

This I do agree with.

But to return to the topic of how much the cars are making…

Now at £143,000+ £6000 fee so it’s making the SE look expensive at £159,950 19 L405 4.4 AB + Disco3 pick up + 800BHP Rothmans 911

Crikey, I was fortunate enough to tootle around in a RR Cullinan black badge the other day.

At this rate, my L460 HSE will be worth more than the £433k that one was worth by the end of the month!

Maybe a bit less as I’m almost 2000 miles on the clock already. Laughing
