18 weeks

Is it acceptable ?

18 weeks my L405 my2019 SVA sat in dealer undiagnosed with suspension issue on rear.

Lr customer care say when it’s fixed I can have it back, no date in mind though and will not entertain buying it back.

Shameful on their so called premium vehicle.

Think it’s time to take off the rose tinted glasses, and look elsewhere.

Oh dear, what's not clear is whether the car is at the supplying dealer or your closest dealer. If its at the supplying dealer, who you have a contract of sale with, your position should be stronger. Either way under the Sale of Goods or Supply of Goods & Services, you have rights, regardless of Covid, Chip Shortages and Ukraine or whatever the latest excuse is.

Get a solicitor involved, four and half months is excessive.

If it were me, I'd be walking into the Head office, banging my fist on the receptionist's desk and demanding to see the CEO at the very least Thumbs Up

I think a lot of these large businesses get away with things because they think nobody has the gall to take it to the top. 18 weeks is not acceptable. All LR cars from 1984

The car is with a local dealer Lister who have been fantastic, problem is that they admitted after 2 weeks that they were stumped and needed engineering to help.

JLR engineering waited 6 weeks to attend and the specialist over the course of 4 more weeks got it wrong twice.

More parts being fitted now in week 18 which they hope will sort it.

Whole episode is a disgrace.

No one you can get to has the power to say do a deal with the owner for a car in stock and get on with life.

Imagine the bill if it was out of warranty Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

After 11 yrs and 11 different vehicles from JLR it’s prob time to move on.

Might put it in a field on the side of the M40 with a big banner over it. ‘The car they can’t repair’

Have you approached the selling dealer?

I've been through this with the last L405 and a Discovery 3 years before that, the L405 went into 3 dealers and they couldn't (see wouldn't) fix it, JLR Exec Office couldn't be bothered. I genuinely feel your pain because its a maddening situation, you want your car back, Listers are stuck in the middle with little or no factory support and fixed reimbursements for spanner time.

If Listers can't resolve the issue after fitting the parts, I'd approach the Head of Business at the supplying dealer and say that you'd like them to collect it, investigate the issue and if they can't fix it after whatever time you feel is fair and reasonable, they buy it back at what you paid for it.

Australia 2013 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Fuji White

Mine was 10 month in dealers to fix DAB radio reception fault.
It was out of warranty so a bill of $ 18.500 dollars .
Only to be told a month later that my 14 car in Australia will not be able to update Navigation mapping.
Now looking at Lexus LX . But cant get one for 18 months.

PB, it depends on how hard nosed you want to be and how much more time you want to throw at the situation and also how long you've had the car.

If you've had the car for under 12 months and 4 of those have been in a garage diagnosing the fault, then they supplying dealer don't get off the hook that easily.

You've got 3 options, wait for a resolution, go down the legal route or get Listers to reassemble your car and dispose of it through WBAC, they don't take it for a test drive. The last option may sound irresponsible but when you can't get a resolution, what else can you do.

I've also been a long term LR owner and the next dilemma is assuming you walk away from your current car, what do you replace it with.

Even though they still have it, I’m lucky that I can afford to not wait. I bought a high spec BMW X7 and it’s has a lot going for it.
Not a classic design but a serious all round vehicle.

Either they buy or I sell, but they have seen the last of my money for along while.

I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, the X7 definitely has a lot going for it and I came close to buying one in 2019, in some respects it’s got some features that aren’t even available on the new L460.

Given all of the nonsense around the L460 V8 being suspended, it’ll be a while before I dive in again.

I hope you get some positive news soon.

Same happened with my L405 - was back at the dealers 3 times and spent nearly 10 weeks there. I got JLR Exec office involved who helped for a while but then the supplying dealer kept fobbing them off (Listers) and in the end I made the Head of Service drive mine for a week as his own vehicle until he finally accepted the issues were there and actually fixed them.
Sadly they messed up other components (2 new turbos fitted after damaging them replacing the EGR and Oil coolers) and the car was never the same.

I got Landrover Finance involved who ruled in my favour and refunded the full purchase price of the car plus interest. If you have any level of finance on the vehicle, get the finance company involved. Current Fleet:-
2018 Discovery 5 3.0 HSE
2021 Ford Ranger Wildtrack
2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt 5.0 V8
1993 Defender 90 200TDI Pickup

Gone - not forgotten
2016 L405 4.4 SDV8 Vogue SE

Possibly get it back next week but won’t keep it.

What faith can you have in a car LR can’t fix in 4 months.

I suppose by only offering a 1 yrs warranty on a 2yr old 100k car I should see the advance warning.

They don’t trust there product either.

Onto BMW next🤞🏼

BMW , I will take another look.. JLR may be lucky and their order book may remain solid, but if there is a downturn on its way , the order book might just disintegrate……..I understood the deposit is in many cases refundable.

Good luck with your issue. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc
