EE 4Gee Wifi SIM Topup

Anyone managed to do this?

About a year ago I bought a 12 month pre-loaded data SIM from EE, put it in the RR and it just worked for sat-nav, remote access, etc. I now want to top it up.

I've registered with EE (email and chosen a password) but now need to add to "add a device" (i.e. add in a data SIM) so that I can see what credit I have and top-up etc. I keep getting to the stage where it's acknowledged that the SIM's phone number is legit, bit then it is asking me to connect a phone or ipad etc. to the SIM to validate it and log in to my EE account. I've tried doing this via a phone, onto the RR's hotspot, but it won't progress... just sticks on this page:

Going straight to 'top up' on the EE website does the same thing.

The 'help' is unsurprisingly of no help whatsoever.

Has anyone managed to top up an EE data SIM that's only for use/been used in the vehicle? If so, how?! FFRR SDV8 Autobiography

Not had any experience with EE but whenever I've gone to top up a 12/24mth data SIM card from Three it's been way cheaper just to buy a new SIM than top up the old one. As they're data SIM's I don't care about keeping the same mobile number.

As I say, not used EE myself so may be different but has to be worth checking new SIM cost before you top up.

Hi James,

Did you put the sim in the car, or in a phone/tablet?
My understanding was you had to activate it in a phone first, then swap it to the car.
I have an EE data sim and IIRC that’s how I did it.
After transferring to the car, it just worked straightaway.

Sorry if this doesn’t help Confused “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” -where’s the fun in that?

Many thanks for the ideas - Sounds strange but I'd never actually considered just binning it and getting another one! Shocked it makes sense, you tend to get the deals on the new SIM don't you?

Out of curiosity though I may stick the SIM in an old smartphone and see if I can register it... FFRR SDV8 Autobiography
