Cutting out and engine fault light on

On my 2015 MY I recently had a new oil cooler installed located at the rear of the engine as it was leaking and filling the car with burning oil fumes. All seems well in terms of this problem, but before I had the cooler replaced the car cut out and the gear selector rotary knob went to neutral. The engine ran rough and then ran and started fine soon afterwards. I never had the problem again until yesterday when I was sitting in traffic it did the same again and I drove home in limp mode. I reset the the ECU with my code reader but there were too many fails showing on the reader. After resetting the car is now running fine again. Seems strange why the gear selector on both instances returned to neutral position.

I have booked it into an indie to put on their computer.

Anyone else had the same problem?

i read that a dodgy battery can give lots of different faults maybe worth testing
