4.2 Supercharged day out at the dealer

Big day yesterday
My 2006 4.2 Supercharged was off to the main dealer for the brake pipe recall

I waited for it , about 2 hours they said, 90 minutes in the receptionist comes over

They can't do it today sorry the bleed nipple is seized so you'll need to re book it

OK, is freeing off the nipple chargeable

Unfortunately yes , they think 90 minutes at our current rate of £210 an hour

Thats not happening then , I can see that turning into £1000 in the blink of an eye

£210 an hour , I assume that's plus vat so £4 a minute, if I saw 2 of them talking I'd be banging on the window, oi that chat just cost me 8 quid

It stood out in the car park

Mine went in a few years ago, (Guy Salmon of Knutsford) for the recall. I think they also managed to break the bleed nipple. Upshot was that the caliper needed replacing. No charge! Previous cars:
S-Max 2007-2013 (only diesel I've had, good car but expensive when diesely bits go wrong, so what's the point?)
Galaxy 2001-2007

Sierra Estate 1993-1997
Uno Turbo 1987 -1993
Fiesta 1984 - 1987

The bleed nipple was seized on a friend of mines 322 when the recall was carried out.

They replaced his caliper FOC so it might be worth calling the LR Customer Relationship Centre and asking them.

On the other hand, given the hassle and the cost of a pair of front flexi’s I’d probably change them myself rather then using LR. 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

Appears not , catch 22 , they MAY be liable if they break something but nobody is taking the risk they might at £210 an hour which I assume is plus vat
