Today I discovered my transfer case earth strap hanging off the chassis. Clear to see that the area has rusted away.

No error messages or issues that I can notice but I need to re-attach it.

I am thinking of drilling a hole close by and use a nut/bolt through the hole to re secure it.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

The deed is done.

Dremel for the rusted sheared bolt/nut, wire brushed, found a very suitable spare threaded hole nearby and had the perfect bolt in my « you never know when this will come in handy » box…

In other news, amazing the improvement in rumbling from the transfer box with new transfer fluid.

Was expecting an improvement, but not as much!

Next on the to do list… the diffs.

Move to warmer climes where they don't salt the roads for at least 8 months of the year!

I've concluded that longevity of Land Rover products and living in Scotland are incompatible.

To be fair, the car has only been in Scotland for a matter of weeks. Can’t have happened that fast… 😂

Ps. I am a sucker for punishment as this is my 8th Land Rover over the years and my « fun car » is a 1972 Land Rover Series 3
