Fluid levels check before L322 drive to Italy

Following my recent trip to Spain in the L405 5.0 SC, I'm now really looking forward to a more leisurely drive down to Tuscany in my 15 year old, 2007 L322 4.4 Petrol V8.

Before leaving later this week, I've just been checking over the car. I noticed last week that there was a leak from a transmission cooler pipe, so I've replaced both of these and the transmission oil cooler.

Today I've checked the coolant level, which looks a bit low to me - Does this need topping up? (see photo 1 below).

Secondly, I've just checked the engine oil level, while cold and on a flat surface..... It looks to me like it's slightly overfilled.
The garage were the last people to add this oil 2,000 miles ago - Should I be concerned at this level of overfill, or is it OK to continue driving at this level? (see photo 2 below).

It's seemed OK for the last 2,000 miles but I don't want to cause the car any damage - It doesn't burn oil so will likely take some time to get rid of this excess.

Your thoughts and comments would be greatly appreciated.

I'd check the levels again after another run and then decide. Too much oil is not a good thing for an engine... Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Thanks Dr Rob....... I'm going to take it back to the garage in the morning.

What's your thoughts on the coolant level, would that concern you?

I’d say you need to unscrew the expansion bottle bleed screw (black plastic screw on top of the bottle), and then undo the expansion tank cap and allow the coolant to settle in the bottle. Looking at it I’d guess it will end up between the cold fill lines.

just top up the coolant when the engine is cold, it should be in the middle of ''cold fill range'' Thumbs Up RR HSE 4.4 2006 LPG

Thanks maric995 and fanders - I managed to get it sorted.

The coolant has been topped up and I've had about half a litre drawn off from the oil level.

When the car was driven and I took it back to the garage, the oil level was actually bang on Max, yet when the car was stood, and all the oil had settled to the bottom, it read as overfilled.

As my understanding is that the oil level should be between Min and Max when cold, I asked them to remove some to mirror this.
