Scratching an (other) itch . . .

Been away for some time now & wanting to gauge opinion as to early L322 ownership.
Firstly, I’m not new to these cars having owned two previously - 06 MY Td6 & AJV8 some years ago. Both were perfect for me at that time & in Buckingham Blue with lightstone leather & that’s what I’d look for again.
I’ve been running an Octavia 4x4 for eight years & with a house move coming up fancy another Full Fat. Might be a surprise to some in that the Td6 was my favourite for a number of reasons.
So that’s where I’m upto - I’d like an 06 MY Td6 Vogue, not SE or HSE in Buckingham Blue.
When I owned my previous ones they were 5 & 7 years old respectively and we’re 16 years on now.
I'm conscious of gearbox issues & other woes but have always felt this was a “sweet spot” for the L323 in terms of looks & general levels of quality. I’m also aware of rust in the structure . . .
Something like this:

I’m asking, therefore, for ownership experience of these cars now from those who’ve had them a while & would appreciate any feedback.

Thank you !

Scotland 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

Not a lot of information about the car but my reaction is it is overpriced. The rear lights are not original. Any other mods?
I know you said you wanted a Td6. I had one and it was a nice car but, IMO, my 2008 tdv8 is streets ahead.
Good luck with whatever you arrive at. Thumbs Up John

Ran an 08 TDV8 for more than a decade and I'd echo what Weegie has said, right up to the point where you bring the 4.4 TDV8 into the mix. It's not only streets ahead, it's into the next county!! Laughing The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom Smile

The added reliability of the 6 speed would be enough to push me into a TDV8 Smile Then there's the newer interior, added power/economy too! 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

Thanks for the responses so far chaps but as stated - I’m after a Td6, not a TDV8.
Mine got me to Italy over 3000 miles & back & didn’t bother me one bit . . .
The rear lights are correct Weegie - they lost the orange indicators for the 06 MY 👍

England 2003 Range Rover HSE Td6 Epsom Green

I’d personally agree that the td6 is the sweet spot for the l322. I’ve owned 2 td6’s and 1 tdv8 and although the tdv8 is more powerful. I didn’t find the economy any better and the extra power is only useful in a straight line. The zf 6 speed is by far a nicer gearbox however torque converter issues are common.
Then there’s the added complexity of the tdv8 whereas the m57 engine is seen as an old fashioned basic engine now with loads of write ups on how to fix anything on it.

For towing I’d definitely choose the tdv8 but I’m happy with my td6. Biggest downside is how out of date the entertainment system is on it. However I wouldn’t pay anymore than about £3000 for a td6
