My indie told me yesterday that he has already had a couple of vehicles in for warranty work and 1 was so serious the dealer bought it back.

A buy-back wouldn't happen unless there were three failed repairs or the DP authorised it on 'goodwill' - would have to be a pretty big customer for that to happen without at least one warranty repair though. If that was the case, unlikely to be using an independent, especially for in-warranty diagnosis.... |

They had my L405 6 months and wouldn’t entertain a buy back so doubt this story. |

I expect a dealer would be delighted to buy back a L460, fix it and then resell it as a used car with a £20k margin. 2017 SDV8 Autobiography |

I find it hard to believe it possible that Land Rover could release a faulted new car onto the market.

A "buy back" could be a customer rejection of a materially defective car under the Consumer Rights Act rather than something the dealer or LR have chosen to do. If there is something of a design fault it would also be a way of keeping a lid on the story and not having pressure for a recall, as suggested by cass. Only Range Rovers since 1988 |
